Extended Family

I was reading the paper this past weekend and found a story in Parade Magazine about how families are coping with difficult financial times by moving in together and sharing household costs and family responsibilities.

Sometimes in takes a crisis for us to understand what is truly important and discover the knowledge, spunk, optimism, and energy that each generation can offer. We learn to work through petty squabbles that in more prosperous times would drive us apart and learn to respect each other for our skills, knowledge, and accomplishments.

I believe the most important aspect of the households that are occupied by multi-generational extended families is the relationship developed between our parents and children. The ability to pass along knowledge and family history to our newest generation without the conflict that sometimes occurs between parents and children will benefit our society long after the recover of our economy.
